Yesterday and last night, Nashville got 4 inches of snow (and one of my classes was canceled by the university 10 minutes before it began). When I went out to shovel our driveway, Julie came out to play, safely ensconced in her 20 articles of clothing! Shoveling was pretty difficult, because a 1/2 inch layer of ice had accumulated on top of the snow. While we therefore could not make snowmen, we found some fun things to do with the sheets of ice. Once the driveway was clear, Julie started with a small work of post-structuralism:
Following this, we took a break to play some ice-ball:
Julie figured out a way to collect larger sheets of ice, so she made a larger snow sculpture, which ended up looking a little like Mt McKinley:
While women build things with sheets of ice, men have something different in mind: (although, to be fair, it
was Julie's idea)
And finally, while getting ready to go back in, we felt some sadness at not having been able to make a snowman, so we figured that we would just make the Denali sculpture into one:
