Floorplans

Due to popular demand (meaning one person asked), I have decided to go ahead and post the floorplans I have. The purple writing is stuff I added in because it was not in the drawing. I think I got all of it. Don't forget if you click on the image you can get a larger one that is easier to read. No need to strain your eyes over our floorplans. Enjoy.

gooey

It has been awhile since we have posted any food pictures. So here are some cookies I made tonight because well I wanted cookies. They are gooey butter cookies. Yummy.

"A"

Our new home will actually be on a different plot of land. It turns out house is too big for the our original plot, so our new neighbors were kind enough to swap with us. They got free hardwood flooring on their first floor out of the deal. Just so you know, the house is not really that big, it is just really wide and does not have a lot of depth. I know it is kind of sad that our house has no depth, David will just have to provide the depth. We also lost the fireplace, which we were kind of iffy about anyways because there was not enough room on the plot. Below is a picture of our new plot of land, which is right next to the old one, so it looks very similar.

And another picture of the "ravine" in our backyard.

Here is a map of our new address. I was off on the previous one. I had thought that it was on a different road.

And a map of our house in relation to Nashville which looks pretty much identical to the previous map except this time it is "A" and not "B".
Apparently some were wanting to see what it would look like outside of our front door. Well, I kind of have issues with taking pictures of the neighbors houses, but thankfully Google does not. So if you want to see our neighbors, then our new address will be 8837 Cressent Glen; Antioch, TN and you can just look at the street view of that address. Just so you know for mailing we will probably use Cane Ridge instead of Antioch, because hopefully that is what the city will be switching over to.

And finally we had some questions about what exactly is a hip roof. You can see a picture of it in the picture below. It means that on the side of the house you have an extra wedge of roof instead of the siding coming up to a point.

Decorating

Today we had the joy of picking out all of the colors that go into our house. David and I are not very good with colors so it was an interesting task. Apparently we finished in record time, 2.5 hours and that included signing off on plans which is usually done at a separate meeting. Luckily, our contractor quickly realized that we worked better when left alone with all of the stuff. Below is a picture of the front of our house. There are three types of materials on the front: brick, shake, and siding. The rest of the house is siding.

Below is our final choice for the outside of the house. The brown in the center is the shack we picked out and the siding is called wicker and it is the thing overlapping the brick. This was by far the most difficult of all the tasks that we had to do which is because it is one of the more difficult things to change about a house and costly. We hope we picked the right combo. If you think it is hideous then let us know. Also, the sample is not in the picture, but the shutters (there is only one set) and the door will be black. The other choices were two greens and a red, we were not brave enough to try one of them, so we stuck with traditional black.
Next when you enter the house there will be a small area with fake wood at the entry and this will be the one with the blue dot. This will also be used on the banister.

The upstairs, the living room, and the dining room will have the following carpet. All of the walls will be painted the color of the paint chip with white accents. I don't know the names of all of these colors, they were not too clever though so you are not missing out on anything.

Next is the kitchen and bathroom. Both will have the following cabinet and flooring. The sample hanging over the cabinet is what our countertop will be in the kitchen. We do not have a sample of what the countertop in the bathrooms will be.

Next this is the rounded edge that the kitchen counter will have. Obviously some of the choices were pretty easy to make.

The blue circles are around the hardware that we picked for the cabinets and drawers. Apparently a new trend is to use knobs instead of handles on drawers. We are not trendy so ours will have handles.

And here is a lovely picture of us signing a million papers saying that we really are picking those colors.

And finally as promised a picture of the contractor. He did not want to be in a picture by himself. He was really getting into the whole picture thing though. Sadly in this picture he is no wearing the hot pink polo shirt.

More to come later. I will post our final floor plans soon. Like I said earlier, if there is something that you think is wrong with the colors let us know really soon. It will most likely hurt our feelings initially, but in the end it might help make our house easier to sell.

"B"

Yesterday we signed the papers for our new home. Now I feel old and as if I have signed my life away, although we still have not done all of the mortgage stuff yet. Below is where our new home will be. It should take about 3 months to build. There is a "ravine" behind the our plot of land, so nobody will be able to build directly behind us, but there will be houses built on each side of us. Luckily, the person on the left side of us just picked out all of there stuff, so they should be starting on both of our houses this week, because they would like to do them at the same time.

Our property line goes back to where I drew in the red line. At least I think that is where it goes, to be honest, I could not see much over the mound when the guy was pointing. The trees just beyond the line are in the "ravine".
Here is our approximate location on a map. "B" marks the spot. The road is not on google maps yet and to be honest while we got the plot number, we forgot to get the address. So that shall come later.

Here is where our house will be in relation to Nashville. It should be a 25-35 minute drive for me to Vanderbilt depending on traffic.

I have to go meet my parents for dinner, so more details will come later. I know everyone is eagerly awaiting them.
