Creamy Potato Soup

Our second soup of January was a creamy potato soup.  Two of our favorite soups (Wisconsin Cheesy Potato Soup and Ham and Sweet Potato Chowder) feature potatoes, so we were looking forward to this soup with joyous anticipation.  Alas, it was bland and boring.  Even worse, my attempt to give it some flavor involved a bit too much garlic powder, and the soup became truly nasty.  In any event, flanked by some garlic break, fresh fruit, and fresh vegetables, it makes a nice picture:
